CRAFTED HERITAGE, HEAVY INDUSTRIAL MATRIX
Founded in 1962 by the legendary philanthropist Dr. Rajah Sir M. A. Muthiah Chettiar, Chettinad Cement bridges the antique building wisdom of Tamil Nadu with high-yield material technology.

Dr. Rajah Sir M. A. Muthiah Chettiar
First Mayor of Madras (1933) & Industrial Pioneer
“True strength does not loud its presence; it stands quiet and unshakeable as generations pass by. We do not manufacture simple powder; we provide the bone structure of our civilization.”
MARRYING CHETTINAD ARTISTRY WITH HIGH CIVIL STRENGTH
For centuries, the merchants and town planners of the Chettinad region (Karaikudi, Pudukottai) built thousands of magnificent multi-courtyard mansions. These architectural structures have withstood intense heat and moisture without modern steel reinforcement or synthetic membranes.
In 1962, our founder recognized that South India's rapid urbanization needed building materials with that same standard of architectural resilience. Chettinad Cement was born, optimizing silicate compositions to resist intense chloride attacks from coastal atmospheric exposure.
KNOWLEDGE ARCHIVE: THE KARAIKUDI MANSIONS
Discover the ancient physical chemistry elements that inspired our engineers to produce cement formulas designed to endure for over a century.
Egg-Mortar Plastering (Karaikudi Finish)
Famous Chettinad walls rely on a triple-polished mixture of shell lime, egg whites, and wild almond extracts. It yields a smooth, marble-like finish that repels torrential monsoons, keeping rooms cool for centuries.
Imported Burma Teak Pillars
Immense central courtyards are supported by robust, hand-carved solid teak pillars. These function as load-bearing column hubs, handling enormous vaulted roof loads without single compressive failures.
Athangudi Glass Tiles
Artisanal tiles hand-casted locally from riverbeds, using glass molds and oxide powders. Cured in deep water, they undergo self-polishing over generations, becoming richer in color as they are walked upon.
